I was BEYOND impressed by this museum. First and foremost the staff and volunteers are some of the nicest people! I felt so spoiled across the two days I spent with the Museum and Foundation team.
The exhibits are incredible. The museum starts with visitors going through basic training before starting at the very beginning in 1775 moving forward to the their newest exhibits about Iraq and Afghanistan.
This museum has 3 of my favorite museum specs, one of which is items of scale. Everywhere you turn there are planes, tanks, helicopters and more. The do an amazing job of creating immersive exhibits going so far as to create a cold room that stays around 50 degrees to simulate even a fraction of the freezing temperatures Marines faced in the Korean War.
The museum itself is shaped like America's first viral photo, the raising of the flag at iwo jima, and is surrounded by walking trails open to the public.
Also on site are 2 dining options, one of which is set up to resemble Tun Tavern where the Marine Corps was founded.
