Located downtown just off UT's Campus, The Bob Bullock Museum starts 16,000 years in the past and works its way up to current day Texas history. On the first floor is the preserved hull & contents of the French Explorer La Belle ship wrecked in 1686.
The museum does a really good job of creating immersive exhibits be that a recreation of an Alamo Mission Church or small town movie theater. The museum is popular with school trips and has an Imax theater on site.
There is parking for a fee underneath the museum.
